I know it, when I hear it!
Whether I define myself as a music person or not, when I hear music that bangs, I jive to it and it makes my day. Sometimes, these songs are always on repeat until I listen to the life out of them. Other days, I remember an oldie, and the next thing is to sing or hum the lyrics out of the song.
Songs uplift. They bring peace. Some days, it is the vibe for me. From pop, RnB to soul music, I love. I love the sound of a guitar being strummed, I love soft voices, I appreciate good lyrics, good music and good people.
Music feels like giving a 3-5 minutes speech for an award won for years of work. A lot is said in a short while and the message relayed. You hear a song, and you’re thinking of one person, thinking of yourself. Traveling and staring out the window, looking infinitely at trees, gazing at the sky and staring into oblivion and how songs are like memoirs and stellar stories.
The earth has music for those who listens- Shakespeare
I could stay all day listening to Ed sheeran strum his guitar or Dante Bowe falling in worship while I hum to Oh Wonder as they play with words and then watch Kendrick spit bars and listen to Ben Platt talk about growing old or Beyoncé casually telling us about Jay Z in a song. Basically, different songs for different vibes.
I want to believe I am not the only one that fantasizes about the kind of songs that would be played on my wedding day, or after achieving a goal or celebrating an event and how there are always new mind blowing songs to listen to. Including the ones you think you would never like until it is put on repeat.
There is just something about music and then, like always; you know it, when you hear it.
Ps: Did I mention that lyrics is not my calling? No matter how hard I try to sing along, some lines don’t just stick.
